Akira Kurusu (Japanese: 来栖アキラ, Kurusu Akira) serves as the Operations Leader of the Defense Force’s First Division and previously acted as Director Isao Shinomiya’s personal aide during combat.

Aoi Kaguragi (Japanese: 神楽木葵, Kaguragi Aoi) is a youthful operative of the Defense Force’s Third Division. After Tachikawa Base was destroyed, he was reassigned for a time to the Second Division before later rejoining his original unit.

Bakko (Japanese: 伐虎, Bakko) is classified as a 'failed' kaiju that resembles a tiger. It is under the ownership of Mina Ashiro, the captain of the Defense Force Third Division.

Chester Lochburn (チェスター・ロックバーン, Chesutā Rokkubān) is a seasoned member of CLOZER and formerly the captain of an elite unit within the British Defense Force. Known for his calm demeanor and tactical brilliance, Chester often acts as the voice of reason among his peers, particularly when Sagan Shinomiya rushes into danger. A versatile combatant with mastery over numerous weapon types, he is capable of unleashing immense power and strategically selects the most effective armament for each Kaiju encounter.

Chieko Tokuda (Japanese: 徳田チエコ, Tokuda Chieko) is known as the daughter of Masahide Tokuda.

Dojima (堂島, Dōjima) is the Head Chef of the Izumo Family and shares a close relationship with Haruichi Izumo.

Ebina (海老名, Ebina) serves as a Platoon Leader in the Third Division of the Defense Force.

Eiji Hasegawa (長谷川 エイジ, Hasegawa Eiji) serves as the Vice-Captain of the First Division in the Defense Force.

Gen Narumi (鳴海 弦, Narumi Gen) is the seventh captain of the Defense Force’s First Division and is known as 'Japan’s Strongest Anti-Kaiju Combatant.' He also serves as the mentor of Kikoru Shinomiya. Gen is one of the main protagonists of Kaiju No. 8: B-Side, a spin-off series of Kaiju No. 8.

Hakua Igarashi (五十嵐 ハクア, Igarashi Hakua) is an officer in the Third Division of the Defense Force and the younger sister of Jura Igarashi.

Haruichi Izumo (出雲 ハルイチ, Izumo Haruichi) is a wealthy young man, heir to Izumo Tech, and a prominent member of the Third Division of the Defense Force. Following the destruction of Tachikawa Base, he was briefly transferred to the Second Division before returning to the Third Division.

Hikari Shinomiya (四ノ宮 ヒカリ, Shinomiya Hikari) was the former captain of the Defense Force’s Second Division and previously served as the vice-captain of the First Division. She was the wife of Isao Shinomiya and the mother of Kikoru Shinomiya.

Hiroto Mori (森 ヒロト, Mori Hiroto) works for the Professional Kaiju Cleanup Company, Monster Sweeper Inc.

Ichitaka Mitsuike (三池イチタカ, Mitsuike Ichitaka) works for the Professional Kaiju Cleanup Company, Monster Sweeper Inc.

Iharu Furuhashi (古橋 伊春, Furuhashi Iharu) is a young officer in the Defense Force’s Third Division. Following the destruction of Tachikawa Base, he was reassigned to the Fourth Division.

Isao Shinomiya (四ノ宮 功, Shinomiya Isao) served as the Director General of the Defense Force before being absorbed by Kaiju No. 9. He was the husband of Hikari Shinomiya and the father of Kikoru Shinomiya, and previously held the position of First Division Captain.

Itakura (板倉, Itakura) serves as a Platoon Leader in the Third Division of the Defense Force.

Jugo Ogata (緒方ジュウゴ, Ogata Jūgo) serves as the captain of the Defense Force’s Fourth Division.

Jura Igarashi (五十嵐ジュラ, Igarashi Jura) is the captain of the Defense Force’s Second Division. She is also the older sister of Hakua Igarashi.

Juzo Nogizaka (乃木坂 十蔵, Nogizaka Jūzō) serves as the Chief of Staff for the Defense Force’s Eastern Command.

Kafka Hibino (Japanese: 日比野 カフカ, Hibino Kafuka), better known by his kaiju designation Kaiju No. 8 (怪獣8号, Kaijū Hachi-gō), serves as the central protagonist of the Kaiju No. 8 manga series.

Kaiju No. 1 (怪獣1号, Kaijū Ichi-gō), also known as the Future Sight Kaiju (未来視の怪獣, Mirai-shi no Kaijū), holds the distinction of being the first kaiju ever officially assigned an identification number. After its demise, the creature was transformed into Numbers Weapon 1 (識別怪獣兵器1号, Nanbāzu Ichi-gō), a weapon now wielded by First Division Captain Gen Narumi.

Kaiju No. 10 (怪獣10号, Kaijū Jū-gō) is an identified kaiju responsible for attacking Tachikawa Base. Created by Kaiju No. 9, it is regarded as a “prototype” kaiju. Following its defeat, it was converted into Numbers Weapon 10 (識別怪獣兵器10号, Nanbāzu Jū-gō), which is now wielded by Third Division Vice-Captain Soshiro Hoshina.

Kaiju No. 11 (怪獣11号, Kaijū Jūichi-gō) is one of the numerous Identified Kaiju engineered by Kaiju No. 9.

Kaiju No. 12 (怪獣12号, Kaijū Jūni-gō) was another of the Identified Kaiju engineered by Kaiju No. 9, developed specifically as the ultimate iteration of Kaiju No. 10.

Kaiju No. 13 (怪獣13号, Kaijū Jūsan-gō) was among the series of Identified Kaiju engineered by Kaiju No. 9, designed as part of his arsenal of powerful monsters to challenge humanity and the Defense Force.

Kaiju No. 14 (怪獣14号, Kaijū Jūyon-gō) was one of the numerous Identified Kaiju engineered by Kaiju No. 9. Brought into existence as part of No. 9’s campaign against humanity, this monstrous creation stood among his most dangerous offspring, crafted specifically to challenge the Japan Defense Force’s growing strength.

Kaiju No. 15 (怪獣15号, Kaijū Jūgo-gō) was a powerful Identified Kaiju artificially created by Kaiju No. 9 with the specific goal of eliminating Kikoru Shinomiya. Despite its intended purpose, the kaiju was ultimately overcome and destroyed by Kikoru herself.

Kaiju No. 2 (怪獣2号, Kaijū Ni-gō), nicknamed the Daikaiju of Destruction (破壊の大怪獣, Hakai no Daikaijū), was a formidable Identified Kaiju and the second to be officially cataloged by the Defense Force. Following its defeat, its body was transformed into Numbers Weapon 2, a powerful combat suit used by Isao Shinomiya, until it was ultimately consumed by Kaiju No. 9.

Kaiju No. 4 (怪獣4号, Kaijū Yon-gō) was an Identified Kaiju whose corpse was later transformed into Numbers Weapon 4 (識別怪獣兵器4号, Nanbāzu Yon-gō). This powerful weapon was originally wielded by Second Division Captain Hikari Shinomiya before being passed down to First Division Officer Kikoru Shinomiya.

Kaiju No. 6 (怪獣6号, Kaijū Roku-gō), also known as The King of Kaiju (怪獣の王, Kaijū no Ō), was an Identified Kaiju neutralized by the Defense Force approximately ten years ago. Following its defeat, the creature’s remains were repurposed into Numbers Weapon 6 (識別怪獣兵器6号, Nanbāzu Roku-gō), a specialized weapon currently wielded by Fourth Division officer Reno Ichikawa.

Kaiju No. 9 (怪獣9号, Kaijū Kyū-gō), currently fused with the Daikaiju of the Meireki Era and Kaiju No. 2, serves as the primary antagonist of Kaiju No. 8 and its anime adaptation. It is a humanoid Identified Kaiju that revives slain Kaiju in order to reclaim the Kaiju power taken by humans. Additionally, it creates subordinate Kaiju to wage war against the Defense Force as part of its broader, yet largely undisclosed, plans to threaten humanity. At one point, Kaiju No. 9 successfully infiltrated the Professional Kaiju Cleaning Company Monster Sweeper Inc., further advancing its covert operations against human forces.

Kanji Nagamine (長嶺 カンジ, Nagamine Kanji) was among the victims targeted by Kaiju No. 9, specifically during the Kaiju’s second human disguise.

Keiji Itami (伊丹 啓司, Itami Keiji) served as the Deputy Director of the Defense Force before being promoted to Director General following the death of Isao Shinomiya.

Kikoru Shinomiya (四ノ宮 キコル, Shinomiya Kikoru) is one of the main protagonists of the Kaiju No. 8 series. She is the young daughter of Defense Force Director General Isao Shinomiya and serves as a member of the Third Division. Following the destruction of Tachikawa Base, Kikoru was transferred to the First Division and received training from Gen Narumi. She is also a central character in Kaiju No. 8: B-Side, a spin-off series of the main story.

Kinugasa (衣笠, Kinugasa) is a male employee of the professional Kaiju cleanup company, Monster Sweeper Inc.

Konomi Okonogi (小此木 このみ, Okonogi Konomi) serves as the Operations Leader of the Third Division of the Defense Force.

Kota Tachibana (立花コウタ, Tachibana Kōta) serves as a Platoon Leader in the First Division of the Defense Force.

Masahide Tokuda (Japanese: 徳田 マサヒデ, Tokuda Masahide), also known by the nickname Toku (徳, Toku), is an employee at the professional kaiju cleaning company Monster Sweeper Inc.

Mina Ashiro (Japanese: 亜白 ミナ, Ashiro Mina) is the captain of the Third Division of the Defense Force and a childhood friend of Kafka Hibino.

Mizoguchi (Japanese: 溝口, Mizoguchi) is the boss of the professional kaiju cleanup company Monster Sweeper Inc.

The Mysterious Larva (Japanese: 謎の幼獣, Nazo no Yōjū, literally “Mysterious Young Yoju”) is a small kaiju responsible for infecting Kafka Hibino and transforming him into Kaiju No. 8.

Reno Ichikawa (市川 レノ, Ichikawa Reno) is the deuteragonist of the Kaiju No. 8 series. He briefly worked at Monster Sweeper Inc., where he met and befriended Kafka Hibino. After witnessing Kafka’s transformation, Reno helped him join the Defense Force and enlisted alongside him. He initially served in the Third Division, and following the destruction of Tachikawa Base, he was transferred to the Fourth Division.

Rin Shinonome (菓雲 りん, Shinonome Rin) serves as a Platoon Leader in the First Division of the Defense Force.

Ryo Ikaruga (斑鳩 亮, Ikaruga Ryō) serves as a Platoon Leader in the Third Division of the Defense Force.

Sagan Shinomiya (四ノ宮 サガン, Shinomiya Sagan) is the captain of CLOZER. Orphaned by a disaster, she was adopted by the Shinomiya family and is the adoptive older sister of Kikoru Shinomiya.

Sebasu (瀬羽須, Sebasu) is the butler of the Shinomiya family, serving Kikoru Shinomiya.

Soichiro Hoshina (保科 宗一郎, Hoshina Sōichirō) is the captain of the Sixth Division of the Defense Force. A member of the Hoshina family, he is regarded as 'The Hoshina Family's Ultimate Incarnation' and is the older brother of Soshiro Hoshina.

The man from the Hoshina Family is the father of Soichiro and Soshiro Hoshina. In the past, he served as a Defense Force Platoon Leader before retiring to work as a swordsmanship instructor.

Soshiro Hoshina (保科 宗四郎, Hoshina Sōshirō) is the vice-captain of the Third Division of the Defense Force and a member of the Hoshina Family, a prestigious clan of swordsmen dating back to the Muromachi period. He is also the younger brother of Soichiro Hoshina and one of the main protagonists of Kaiju No. 8: B-Side, a spin-off series of Kaiju No. 8.

Suited (スーテッド, Sūteddo) is a member of CLOZER and serves as the organization’s genius physicist and biologist. She single-handedly leads CLOZER’s weapons development, using cross-disciplinary research and Kaiju-based experimentation to create a wide array of innovative weaponry through her unconventional approach.

Tae Nakanoshima (中之島タエ, Nakanoshima Tae) serves as a Platoon Leader within the Third Division of the Defense Force.

The Daikaiju of the Meireki Era (明暦の大怪獣, Meireki no Daikaijū) is an ancient and formidable kaiju that, in 1657, rampaged for one hundred days, causing the deadliest massacre of kaiju slayers in recorded history.In modern times, this once-mighty kaiju was discovered by a juvenile Kaiju No. 9, which fused with it until it reawakened during a battle with Kafka Hibino and the Defense Force. It was ultimately destroyed when Kaiju No. 8 delivered a decisive blow to its core, bringing its threat to a permanent end.

Toko Kirimori (霧森トーコ, Kirimori Tōko) serves as the vice-captain of the Fourth Division of the Defense Force.

Toma Takanashi (小鳥遊 トウマ, Takanashi Tōma) is a Defense Force officer serving in the Third Division.
