Kikoru Shinomiya is a petite young girl with a slender, athletic frame, long blonde hair tied into twintails with black bows, and large green eyes, closely resembling her mother, Hikari Shinomiya. In her role with the Defense Force, she wears the standard combat suit and carries her regular equipment. Upon receiving Numbers Weapon 4, Kikoru’s uniform becomes a light-colored, scaled suit with a long skirt, adorned with Izumo Tech logos and the 004 insignia on the chest. Off duty, she prefers simple attire, typically a long grey dress. As a child, she had slightly shorter hair, maintaining the same twintail style.

Kikoru Shinomiya is a proud and confident young woman who often appears arrogant, yet beneath this exterior she is determined, persistent, and deeply caring for her comrades. She constantly strives to improve her abilities, motivated by a desire to honor her late mother, Hikari Shinomiya, and meet the high expectations of her father, Isao Shinomiya, while protecting those around her. Despite her assertiveness, she demonstrates loyalty and gratitude, notably toward Kafka Hibino, and maintains a professional and polite demeanor with superior officers. Kikoru’s upbringing in a military family, combined with personal loss and insecurities, fuels her obsessive drive for approval and recognition, shaping her relentless commitment to grow stronger and safeguard her allies.
Trivia
Kikoru Shinomiya enjoys exterminating Kaiju, drinking black tea—particularly Darjeeling—and spending time with big dogs. While her personal weapon was originally intended to be a giant sword, the author chose an axe instead to create a stronger contrast between the rugged weapon and her character. Kikoru has proven extremely popular, ranking #5 in both the first and second character popularity polls, and is the only known Defense Force soldier compatible with four numbered weapons. Despite common misconceptions stemming from her early graduation, Kikoru is at least 18 years old, aligning with Japan’s minimum military enlistment age, and her birthday is noted as occurring in September. Her Daruma Dropper axe technique is named after the traditional Japanese game Daruma Otoshi, in which a doll is struck in five pieces without toppling it, reflecting how Kikoru’s attack slices a target from head to legs in five strikes.
As a regular officer, Kikoru’s Unleashed Combat Power reaches 94%, the highest of any non-captain-ranked officer. Her exceptional abilities and battlefield performance earned her a spot in Fortnite as a playable skin. Following her final battle against Kaiju No. 9, she is set to be promoted to vice-captain of the First Division alongside Gen Narumi, replacing Eiji Hasegawa, marking a significant milestone in her career and cementing her status as one of the Defense Force’s most capable and promising members.
