Chapter 123
Volume 16

第123話

Kafka stares down an unseen enemy while the Defense Force assembles behind him. A surge of conflicting energy erupts from his core, dividing the battlefield with tension.

Overview

**Spoiler Alert** Kaiju No. 8 struggles to contain the inner influence of Kaiju No. 2’s signal, while the battlefield fractures between allies and threats. Kafka’s allies rally to support him as strange visions appear — possibly illusions or suppressed memories. Meanwhile, the appearance of Kaiju No. 15 and No. 12 signals the beginning of another coordinated assault.

Plot

Opening

Kafka stumbles to his feet after the transformation backlash. He sees flashes of past kaiju and allies — Kikoru, Isao, and Reno — almost as if haunted.

Midpoint

As Hoshina orders the force to hold fire, a comms signal breaks through: Gen confirms multiple Kaiju energy signatures closing in. Among them, two are identified — Kaiju No. 12 and No. 15, both previously considered dormant.

Climax

Just as Mina prepares to retaliate, Kafka steps in front of her, saying he needs to face them alone. In the shadows, Kaiju No. 14’s corpse begins to glow faintly, suggesting reactivation or manipulation.

Aftermath

The chapter closes with a full-spread shot of Kaiju No. 1, 10, 12, 14, and 15 being tracked simultaneously. One line of Defense Force members murmurs: 'It’s starting again... just like before.'
