第34話

No color spread for Chapter 34. Standard black-and-white chapter with a dramatic Kafka-Shinomiya confrontation.

Overview

**Spoiler Alert** The Third Division rookies are summoned by Mina Ashiro as part of a Defense Force initiative to rebuild inter-division trust and boost morale. Meanwhile, Kikoru confronts her father, Director General Isao Shinomiya, in a desperate plea to spare Kafka’s life. But Shinomiya responds with brutality—declaring Kafka a monster by both action and anatomy.

Plot

Opening

Mina Ashiro briefs Kafka Hibino, Reno Ichikawa, Iharu Furuhashi, Aoi Kaguragi, and Haruichi Izumo on a new Defense Force initiative to mix promising recruits between divisions. She also warns of the rising threat posed by increasing Mega-class monster appearances.

Midpoint

Kikoru Shinomiya confronts her father, Director General Isao Shinomiya, pleading with him to abandon what she believes is a plan to execute Kafka. Isao coldly shows her an x-ray of Kafka's chest, revealing his heart has been replaced by kaiju tissue. To him, Kafka is now indistinguishable from the creature that killed Kikoru’s mother.

Climax

In a chilling moment, Shinomiya pierces Kafka’s transformed chest with his bare hand, drawing out blood and declaring that anyone whose body can stop bullets cannot be considered human. Kafka is left stunned—not only physically, but emotionally shattered by the rejection and dehumanization.
