Overview
**Spoiler Alert** In the aftermath of the Honju battle, Kikoru reaffirms her trust in Kafka despite his kaiju form. Meanwhile, Mina and Soshiro reflect on Kafka’s true strength, and suspicions grow about Kaiju No. 9’s humanoid nature.
Plot
Opening
Kafka finds Kikoru sitting atop defeated kaiju. She admits she doubted him but is ultimately relieved that he retained control in his monster form. Kafka awkwardly apologizes for worrying her and letting Kaiju No. 9 escape. Kikoru brushes it off, catching him before he falls from exhaustion.
Midpoint
Elsewhere, Mina Ashiro notices Vice-Captain Hoshina is unusually quiet. She tries to lighten the mood but eventually asks him what he thinks about Kaiju No. 8’s strength. He describes No. 8 as a Daikaiju with oddly human behaviors—a rare combination.
Climax
Soshiro recalls Kafka’s ability to hold back and speculates about his humanity. Mina expresses her intent to eliminate all kaiju without exception, regardless of their behavior. This clearly weighs on Soshiro.
Aftermath
Ikaruga informs the group that Kaiju No. 9 has been seen transforming into a human form. Later, the Monster Sweeper Inc. crew watches the news coverage of the incident, reflecting on Kafka’s heroics as Soshiro prepares to visit them.
