Overview
**Spoiler Alert** Kafka, now in kaiju form, faces off against Vice-Captain Hoshina in a high-speed duel. Despite Hoshina’s near-lethal precision and invisible blade attacks, Kafka manages to escape using brute force and cunning—but not without raising suspicions about his identity.
Plot
Opening
Soshiro Hoshina moves to attack. Kafka, trying to hold back, realizes that fighting defensively is not enough. He remembers that the combat suits used by Defense Force members are made from kaiju parts—boosted by their user’s release power.
Midpoint
Kafka is slashed across the chest by an invisible attack. He quickly realizes that Hoshina has been targeting his core all along. One more hit could finish him. Hoshina internally assesses Kaiju No. 8’s power, noting he might be Level 8 — a Daikaiju.
Climax
Hoshina launches a final attack composed of multiple invisible slashes. Kafka narrowly avoids fatal injury and counters by forming a giant jaw structure from kaiju flesh that crushes Hoshina's sword. The move shocks Hoshina.
Aftermath
Kafka doesn’t finish the fight. Instead, he flees under the cover of debris and smoke. Hoshina, though unharmed, is left wondering why Kaiju No. 8 spared him. He senses something off—noting how Kafka fought more like a man than a monster.
