Overview
**Spoiler Alert** Three months have passed since Kafka’s transformation. The Defense Force is still searching for Kaiju No. 8 — now officially classified. Kafka and Leno both pass the first stage of the Defense Force exam. At work, Leno finds Kafka mid-transformation and scolds him for being careless. Kafka insists he can control it, only to hilariously transform again trying to open a bottle. Later, at the Nishi-Tokyo Testing Site, they meet a girl who moves a car with one hand and introduces herself as Kikoru Shinomiya — a prodigious recruit. She instantly antagonizes Kafka for being old and smelling like a kaiju.
Plot
Opening
The Defense Force remains on high alert three months after Kafka’s incident. Kaiju No. 8 is now a national concern. Kafka and Leno receive confirmation of passing the first exam stage while working a cleanup shift.
Midpoint
Kafka accidentally starts transforming again while distracted on-site. Leno catches him mid-shift, panicking over the risk of exposure. Kafka awkwardly tries to explain he wasn’t paying attention.
Climax
Trying to open a soda bottle, Kafka transforms again — to Leno’s horror. Kafka tries to play it off, showing he still lacks control.
Aftermath
