Plot
Opening

Midpoint
Kaiju No. 9 starts revealing his plan to wear down the Defense Force by creating regenerating variants. Iharu confronts him, prompting No. 9 to drop his act and attack with a gun-like finger. Iharu is injured, and Leno tries to help, but the kaiju shows no interest in mercy.
Climax
The kaiju reveals himself as the same humanoid from the entrance exam. Leno attempts to contact HQ, but No. 9 has already disabled comms. Leno is wounded and pushed to his limit. Remembering Kikoru’s insight about the kaiju's weapon, he dodges another strike.
Aftermath
Leno urges Iharu to flee, but Iharu refuses. Leno shoves him to safety and draws the kaiju’s attention. He recalls Kafka’s sacrifice and readies himself for a similar stand, determined to protect others even if afraid.
