Overview
**Spoiler Alert** This chapter takes a breather from action and focuses on Kafka’s internal struggle. In the aftermath of his clash with the Meireki Daikaiju, he drifts into unconsciousness. Within this dreamlike state, memories of Reno, Kikoru, and Soshiro surface — not just as reflections, but as symbolic manifestations of Kafka’s fears, guilt, and hope.
Plot
Opening
Kafka, bloodied and collapsed, lies motionless as snow begins to fall. His kaiju form flickers. We enter a mental plane where he walks a path made of broken rubble — each step triggering a memory.
Midpoint
Kafka sees visions of Reno encouraging him during training, Kikoru’s fierce but supportive expression after their first team mission, and Soshiro warning him not to shoulder everything alone. But they say nothing — just watch.
Climax
Kafka drops to his knees, overwhelmed. He cries out, wondering if he’s done enough. A final memory appears — Mina smiling silently, her hand reaching out. Kafka, eyes full of tears, stands once more.
Aftermath
He awakens with a gasp on the battlefield. His kaiju form stabilizes. The storm has cleared slightly. He’s not healed — but his resolve is unshaken. The next battle is coming.
